The FCC has confirmed that Samsung will release a new LED View Cover alongside the Galaxy S22 Note. The regulatory body also appears to confirm that the Galaxy S22 Note has a built-in S Pen, which would be a first for the Galaxy S series.
The FCC has published several documents relating to the SM-S908U, a smartphone that has appeared on a Samsung support website, among other databases. The SM-S908U is thought to be the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s model number, also now referred to as the Galaxy S22 Note. Incidentally, Samsung has recently certified the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus with the FCC, which we have discussed separately.
Unsurprisingly, the FCC does not reveal what the SM-S908U looks like, nor what hardware it contains. However, a Geekbench listing links the SM-S908U to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC. Samsung has informed the FCC that it can publish external, internal and test-setup photos on May 3, 2022, along with user manuals. It cannot publish any schematics though; Samsung has instructed the FCC to keep these privately indefinitely.
Incidentally, the FCC confirms that the SM-S908U supports an S Pen and an LED View Cover, which Samsung has assigned the model numbers EJ-PS908 and EF-NS08, respectively. EJ-PS908 is so small that Samsung will show its FCC ID within the SM-S908U’s Settings menu. Hence, it seems likely that Samsung has contained EJ-PS908 within SM-S908U, as per previous leaks.
